I’m planning a trip this summer to Concord, Mass. to see Thoreau’s cabin at Walden Pond. I’d like to go for a whole week. Does anyone know of anything else notable to do in the area? Or any great places to stay? Let me know guys!

When I’m heading to work in Boston in the morning, I have to usually take Rte. 2, which runs into one of the dumbest traffic train-wrecks in the state - the rotary and subsequent traffic lights in Concord.

There isn’t really another route to take from Gardner that will get me there as quickly, but is there a way to break off from 2 and avoid this stupid part of the route?
One more detail - I cannot take the train in the morning because the Fitchburg rail does not have an arrival time in Boston that would get me there on time for an early job.
Google has led to nothing but news reports about MassHighway rebuilding that section last year. Of course, nothing went through then, and with this economy it’ll be a while before anything is fixed.

I’m looking for a nice restaurant in Concord, MA that I can purchase a gift card for my sister and brother in law who live there … I live in San Jose, CA … I am thinking between $50 and $100 for a nice dinner for two.

I commute westwards to Framingham and am trying to decide whether to live in Somerville (near Davis Sq) or Cambridge (near Central Sq). I have noticed that the ramp going onto I-90 are quite congested after work (though I am not sure what the situation is like in the mornings). Is the traffic on the ramps leading into/out of Concord Pike Rt-2 any better?

I’ll be visiting Boston in a week and I see that it’s easy to get to Concord taking the commuter rail. It would drop me off at the station on 90 Thoreau St.

The thing is, I’ll be on foot, and I wonder if there are enough sights close enough to the station to make a walking trip possible? Has anybody here ever done this?

Thanks for any advice :)
